New girls flag football program launches successfully

The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) recently approved a proposal officially making girls flag football a part of the 2023-2024 high school athletic program. Despite its recent inclusion in the athletic program, the Carlmont girls flag football team has shown great success in their season so far. Coached by Oscar Fabic, an English teacher at Carlmont, the team exerts constant determination as they aim to develop a strong and successful program. The hope is to expand the flag football community and inspire more girls to try out in the upcoming years.

Farmers markets spark opportunity for small vendors

The Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association works with California farmers and small businesses to unite communities across the San Francisco Bay Area. These weekly markets bring the community live music along with fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, specialty foods, and much more. Supporting over 275 California farmers and about 300 food artisans, the association provides opportunities for these vendors to build their name and establish lasting connections with customers.

The Redwood City Public Library helps bring together the community by welcoming all people to partake in the many opportunities and resources it offers. In July 2021, the Redwood City Council approved a grant award of $270,000 for the Library Makerspace Project. This initiative provides the community with technology and tools that might not be accessible or affordable for individuals, allowing them to explore their creative interests. Hosting guided programs and events, the Makerspace Project helps evoke the creative minds of all.
