Local Snacks

This photo was taken at a local farmers market. For this event, my main goal was to capture emotions, gestures, and expressions. To do this, I stayed on the lookout for human interactions between friends, family, and vendors. I was successfully able to capture these moments by focusing on a specific individual or group for designated periods of time.

Drive to Goal

This was the last sports game I took photos of during my junior year. When going through my photos from this game, I was able to see a great improvement in the quality and focus of the photos compared to previous events. Some of my main goals for this game were to utilize the good lighting and capture clear, action-packed, and expressive photos.

Embracing Diversity

This picture was taken at my school's Heritage Fair assembly. Similar to other events in the gym, I faced issues with lighting as I had a hard time finding a balance between light exposure with the consequence of graininess. During this event, I experimented with settings that I had not tried before to find one suitable for the given environment.

Choo-Choo

This photo was taken in Truckee, CA during the winter. It depicts a cargo train that appears to be never-ending. I really like this photo because it incorperates various artistic techniques. The composition is well balanced and the use of lines created by the train and tracks create an allusion that makes the train appear as if it were going on forever.

Searching for Love

I feel like this is one of the best photos I have taken so far. It was captured in a school hallway on Valentine's Day. Despite the chaotic area, I made sure to focus on only one person to distract from the background. She is depicted searching for her Valentine's Day heart. I really like this photo because it holds a deeper message within it.

Bump, Set, Spike

For this game, I focused on taking photos from various angles to capture the movement and emotions of the game. I think this photos does a good job of capturing the overall essence of the sport as it depicts the motions of setting and spiking the ball in one.

Defense!

This picture comes from the most recent game I covered. While it was my first time using a new camera brand to take photos, I was easily able to navigate and adjust the settings. There is a noticeable improvement in the image quality compared to some of my older works where I was not as familiar with photography knowledge.

Passing Wide

This game troubled me greatly. Not only is it always harder to get good-quality photos from inside gyms, but I was also struck with the unfortunate issue of my camera dying midway through the game. This made things extra difficult when it came to writing my article because I had very few photos to chose from.

Team Win!

It is always an amazing feeling to look at a team photo after winning a game. That sense of pride is what I wanted to capture in this picture. All the players have a big smile stretching across their faces as they are holding up a W to represent their win after a well-fought game.

Let's Go Scots!

This picture comes from my first time shooting in a gym. While it was also one of my first works, I was faced with the challenge of capturing meaningful and quality photos. It took time to adjust appropriately in which I messed with the shutter speed, ISO, and aperture. Despite this, I really like this photo as it captures the emotions of the players.

Let's Go Sophomores!

This image comes from the Powderpuff game, Sophomores versus Juniors. While the girls are showing off their football skills, the boys show off their cheerleading abilities. This photo was taken in the middle of one of the chants.

GOAL!

While it isn't the greatest quality, I love how this photo shows the celebration and happiness of players after their team scores a goal. I believe that pictures that portray the emotions of the players always have the deepest meaning to them. This photo indicates a time of learning for me as I had to adapt to the poor lighting from the dark night sky.
